A local brewery in the centre of Exeter. We speak to Adrian Bosworth to learn more...
This is the second in the a series of customer focused blog posts which show off just how weird and wonderful the world of Fluid Power is! Last time we looked at Bob Petersen Engineering and his Supercharged Bentleys, this time we turn our focus to Exeter Brewery; the truly "local" brewery with a premises just minutes away from Exeter High Street.
Exeter Brewery started its life back in 2003 as the Topsham and Exminster Brewery, then based at Exminster Marshes. In 2008 the company decided upon a rename to appear more local to the Exeter surroundings; this was followed up in 2013 by moving to Cowley Bridge by St. David's Train Station.
"We love being in the city" says Adrian Bosworth, Sales at Exeter Brewery. "A lot of brewers have moved their operations outside of the city centres but we feel it's good to have a local presence".

"We produce 6 ales all year round and all of these are sold either by the cask or the bottle. From the likes of traditonal ales such as County Best, to our more unique ales such as Avocet. We also have a couple seasonal ales; one in particular we are excited about is called "Grubber" and has been made for the Rugby World Cup: Its low strength but has character well beyond its ABV! " informs Adrian.
Since the move to the new premises the company have had a real push at incressing their profile and selling their beers; there are a couple freehouses in the area who have gotten into bed with the big brewers which can make things tricky for the smaller outfit but this clearly hasn't affected Exeter Brewery greatly.
"We are a relatively small brewery but we're growing all the time. We are kept busy with the demand for our beers and have started doing double brews weekly as opposed to the single so that production meets the demand. We plan to build upon our premises later on to deal with future demand."
Around the brewery you will find FDA Quality Hose, Hose Reels and other fittings suitable for the food & beverage environment such as quick release couplings and stainless components; all supplied by Derek Lane & Co.

On top of all of this they have "The Tap Room" which is their on-site bar, available for private functions and tours of the premises. This gets a lot of interest from local business who want to have a visit around a working brewery, as well as sample their wares! Running the bar as well as keeping on top of a high demand for production ensures that there is never a slow moment at Exeter Brewery.
Keep an eye out at your local pub for one of their ales and be sure to give them a taste!
